Dear Friends,

The American Society for Yad Vashem (ASYV) was established thirty six years ago by a group of Holocaust survivors, to advance the crucial efforts of Yad Vashem through Holocaust education, traveling exhibitions, programming for the next generation, and philanthropy. ASYV has grown from a handful of dedicated members to over 65,000 passionate supporters throughout the United States. We are delighted to announce that ASYV has officially moved west to expand, opening a new West Coast office in Los Angeles on November 1st.

Over the years, ASYV has established significant roots in southern California. The community has continuously supported Yad Vashem for many years. Our annual Los Angeles Benefit Gala, held every June, is an important fundraiser for Yad Vashem and an opportunity to connect with our local board members, friends, and supporters. After the great success of this past year’s Salute to Hollywood Gala: honoring the Hollywood Reporter and David Weiner, it was clear that the West Coast is ready and eager for a permanent ASYV presence.

Our new West Coast Director of Institutional Development, Bill Bernstein, is already hard at work with current donors and newly identified community members to develop resources for Yad Vashem. Bill has many years’ experience as a senior development professional, working most recently at Jewish World Watch in L.A., the RAND Corporation and the Jewish Federations in Boca Raton and Los Angeles. Bill and our West Coast professional staff, Donna Elyassian, have settled into a new space in Brentwood and are ready to welcome the community to learn more about our activities and programs.
